Once Upon a Ruffle

The moment we have all been waiting for! My new business venture :)
See after I had Emerson I became a crazed mom always on the hunt for cute personalized clothing for professional pictures, event's and just day to day wear. I seriously spent hundreds...until I realized.. I could totally make everything I was buying! I started making things for friends, family and of course my own little lady.

I got such good reviews that I decided to make them more often, and in turn started selling them. I have done pretty well, and have had so much practice that I am finally ready to start my own business. I am starting off with a facebook page and currently working on an actual website. I wanted to get my feet wet first so that's the actual purpose of the FB page. I am pre making lots and going to have it up for sale. Tutu's, onesies, shirt's, bloomer's(diaper covers)and bows no worries don't let the name fool you..there will onesies for your little man up for sale as well.

I will post a few quick pictures. And let everyone know when the site is launched. Thank you!

12 month well baby check up.

So yesterday was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Emerson decided that she wanted to wake up and play in the middle of the night. Which meant mommy had to get up and "play" with her...it was more like me sitting on the couch cross eyed trying not to fall back asleep. I was totally convinced a few times that I had twins. Well eventually she went back to sleep...and woke up an hour later. BLAH! So total I got about 3 hours of sleep.
FAST FORWARD
To breakfast, complete with a full juice cup thrown to the floor and landing on mom's second toe. I teared up like my 1 year old would have and felt sorry for myself. then later while getting my make up on, my big lady found out she can reach the top of the bathroom counter...where all of my goods sit...some with no lids on them(dun dun duuuun)..you guessed it! Concealer all over my bathroom walls and carpet. NIIIICE. I put her down for a quick nap, and an hour later I had to go wake her for her appt. She was laying butt naked in her crib...with her diaper squished in the corner and 3 different pee puddles on her sheet and blanket. Awesome.
Then it was off to her 12 month check up. We had to switch pediatricians because remember I am turning in my headset for a stay at home mom position(woot woot!)..so of course our insurance companies changed from mine to Shane's.
So this new place looked nicer than our old place and I thought the change wouldn't be so bad.(I had no complaints about our previous provider)So we get in and they have a well baby play room and a sick baby play room. AWESOME right? The play room's have the half door's(closed on bottom/open on top) so I can only see mid wall and up without going in. So they give me a stack of paper work to fill out and I head to the room, thinking perfect we are the only one's in here so she won't be bullied for any toys...I open the door and see...nothing..just chairs. WTH? What pedi office has no toys for nuggets to play with? The next 30 minutes I got nothing accomplished, except fighting the losing battle of boredom for my 1 year old.
Eventually we got called back to the room. She had the normal measurements. 21 lbs. 31 1/2 in. my tall little lady. I was told also that the pedi would be in then we would do her 4 shots. GREAT!
The pedi comes in....and she is exactly what I didn't want. Someone who talks with such a thick accent that I don't comprehend what they are saying until 5 minutes after they said it. I totally appreciate other cultures and languages..but when it comes to the health of my baby I want to hear and understand everything you have to say without feeling rude when I ask you to repeat yourself 500 times. Anyways...she came and went...we waited in the freezing room(they were having heat issues) for another hour before the nurse came back in with the shots...Em was going mad. Mommy's fault for assuming I didn't need to bring toys. She was a champ through all of her shots..the MMR was the worst one ever, but we finally got the eff outta there. Happiest mommy ever!
Em was asleep at 7:20 and I at 7:30. Good riddance Thursday!!!

RANT OVER!

OHH YAY!

Finally.. I am caught up! My finger's and brain are starting to throb. I just wanted to go over a few life changes in my future. My Shane has decided to join the Army. He took the ASVAB tonight and scored in the 96th percentile. He is sooo smart, hopefully Em will get his brain power..and be in the nerd herd when she grows up..which would be more than ok with me, since she will be more likely to stay out of trouble and not making her debut on 16 and pregnant, even though I LOVE watching that show.(ok brain focus!) ANYWAYS, pretty much any job he wants is his..we are aiming for the one with the largest signing bonus-which surprisingly AND thankfully isn't EOD (explosive ordnance disposal).
He will meet with the recruiter tomorrow to go over his MOS options. We are excited about this new journey...I feel like we are actually going to live life and experience things together. We both come from military families so I have lived the life as a child, but I am totally ready for adventure as a family. Change is good, right?
With this decision I am also GLADLY able to quit my job. 7 ton's were just lifted from my shoulders. Customer service seriously gets old after the first week...and I have been hanging in there for 7 years! GAHH! I put in my 2 weeks notice already and my last day is 2/18. I am thankful for this..definitely. I will happily be starting my new job of stay at home mom-dom. Which I think will be much more rewarding than a customer telling me to eff off, when a simple "thank-you" would have sufficed. I will NOT miss that place, nor the gossip girl's(coworkers)for that matter!
On my last day part of me want's to tell every customer whatever the hell I want...BUT I don't think that would be very responsible of me(damn morals always getting in the way). I am ready to walk out of those doors for the last time, and immediately into the closest bar!
Let the adventure begin................

I will have to make one more post to talk about my new business venture...ohhhhhhh, ahhhhhhhh! Fun stuff ahead!

Not really much to say here...other than my punkin is gorgeous!(toot toot).I lurve these!!

Emerson turn's ONE!!!

Hold on....*GASP*...
Ok! it's ok...I'm ok.
My little puddin pop has just turned one..I hate how fast these months are going! Even though I am amazed at how much she has changed..I don't want to believe it. I am the mother of a one year old.....There, fine I said it!(still doesn't feel like it though).
Anyways, Emmy had a great day. She loves to play with other kids..I basically couldn't get her to do anything else.
I did a lot of prepping for her party which had a ladybug theme! I made her outfit..and all the decorations. It was a lot...but I wanted everything to be perfect, because she is perfect(TO ME). We had crafts, lot's of food, games, cake and of course more present's that she could care less about. I tried to take a moment to soak everything in as I looked at her while she smiled during her "Happy Birthday" song..then that moment was interrupted by my inner monolouge..."why aren't you taking pictures or video?!"..."I am seriously going to miss this...where is my camera?". "I am a freak".

Lastly, I would like to add that I love her and everything that she has brought to my life..I am so lucky, and these last 12 months are proof that dreams do come true.

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas

And it really happened! We had a pretty nice ammount to play in this Christmas.. Emerson was definitely not interested in opening her presents but was totally down with playing with her toys once they were unwrapped. We spent Christmas Eve day at Shane's sister's house about an hour away, ate dinner..did the gift exchange thing.. we actually had a decent time. Christmas day was spent at my parent's..breakfast..playing..gifts..playing..dinner..playing..you know the story. My dad made a really cute comment about how he loved Christmas again as he watched her scream and giggle with her ball popper.
She wore her super cute "elf shoes" shirt I made her. My new thing is making clothes which I will write more on later :) Anyways...here are some pic's from her last, first holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ok, so it was like almost 3 months ago...but whatever let's pretend I was on time with this post. Moving along!
Emerson's first thanksgiving was nice. We spent the day at my parents house with my sister from FL too! She loved trying turkey and even became one of the smallest tryptophan victims. I caught some sweet video of her falling asleep in her high chair, epic! One more holiday(Christmas)until she has seen them all :(

Deep fried twinkie time.......

It's my fav part of the year. State fair time! Deep fried everything, rides, shows, and my family = a really perfect day! Emerson's first State Fair was 10/17. She couldn't do much but look at everything..or so I thought, until we walked by the carousel..I almost peed my pants in excitement for her. We bought some tickets and stood in a short line..the music turned on and she looked around super confused. Then, the a big jerk to start off almost sent daddy (who was holding her)off like a tot on the merry go round after it was spun too fast. I gave the him the wooooaaah(dead fish frowny face) but he recoverd quickly. The rest of the ride was filled with beautiful smiles, as she rocked in excitement and she even threw a few claps in, followed by a quick reach back to the pole as she realized she needed to hang on!

My pumpkin at the patch

We took our pumpkin to the patch!

Taking Emerson out and about, exposing her new things and watching her face light up is addictive! Our friends Kelly and Joe who just had their baby Liliana on 9/20 came along with us...and as you can see my bff India was there too. It was warmer than we anticipated, so we all got a little hot walking the fields trying to find the perfect pumpkin.

Time to play catch up.

So I have been gone for a few months. I have been a busy little bee! It's amazing how time flies...and how much she has grown. I will try to pick up where I left off. Halloween! Emerson was a cupcake..the most delish cupcake ever, might I add. She only went Trick or treating to both her Grandma's house. I couldn't not take her though! Shane and I went to a Halloween party, my first alcoholic drink since having her..I can't remember a dry spell like since I hit 18. We had fun though, I was a pirate and Shane was Jason..nothing fancy.
