Beach Bum

So we took a family trip to Pawleys Island/Myrtle beach. Emerson's first encounter with the sand and ocean..and she looved it. I was born and raised majority of my life around the ocean..living in Hawaii and the Marshall Islands. I loved and still love the water and was hoping that Em would follow in her mama's footsteps..SUCCESS! That make's me most happy. Daddy is an Irish man...red beard..pale skin...I was worried that my little nugget would be a little ginger allergic to the sun.
It's so much fun watching her discover new things. Possibly my new favorite hobby.

Purdy girl..

I had to post a pic of my little miss in her tutu...stinkin cute! We are going to the beach this weekend for a much needed break from our routine. I am in the midst of planning a baby shower for a friend...that will make number 2 for me this year already! Baby making season is in full effect. So I can't wait to go..I will have plenty of pic's when we return..you know me!

No Pant's Dance

My silly little puddin pant's..has pooped on herself twice today! She never cries when she is dirty, but she always enjoy's laying on the changing table and playing. She doesn't really like things going over her head so we sing "The Hokey Pokey" song...you put one head in you take one head out..yadda..yada..yadda. So it makes situations involving multiple wardrobe changes actually fun! This is her caught in the "one head out" part of the song...and we do the Hokey Pokey dance together too.. How lame being a mother has made me. Dropping it like it's hot has been replaced with turning myself around.
Speaking with turning your self around...Emerson was caught in mid rollover. She has only done it a hand full of times so everytime it happens I get really excited!

Mom's Day!

I totally forgot to post a mother's day blog. I'm only a week + late! Well we spent the day cooking out and playing. I got a really cute jewlery bos engraved as Dionna Kay's first mothers day and the date. It was really sweet. Emerson got me Alice in Wonderland, I think she knew that would benefit her too one day. And lot's of card's and some clothes for my new "mom body" I am deperately trying to get rid of. Don't worry friend's no acid wash pleated mom jeans were in the mix. It was an awesome day to celebrate being a mom to the sweetest baby girl. I am the luckiest!! I'm sure all of us Mom's feel that way =)

I'm 4 months old!

YAY!!! to my big lady..xoxo

Baby Food!

So I started Emerson on baby food. We first started with rice cereal and after a few days of that she upgraded to green beans. She made a yick face for a few seconds but I think she was more fascinated with the fact something other than formula was in her mouth to let the taste bother her. She eat's rice cereal in the morning and veggies in the afternoon....still accompanied with formula of course. She mashes it around in her mouth and open's up like a little baby bird waiting for more. I am so glad it is becoming such a smooth transition. I can tell already she is going to be a messy eater..she want's to grab the spoon.. and stick her hand's in her mouth then touch her hair/face/clothe's..oh fun! Yet another first to be super proud of...take a peek =)

Strawberry Patch Kid

Today My mom, Emerson, and myself went strawberry picking. It's something we do every year but of course this was Emerson's first! So I loaded her up with sunscreen threw on her hat and it was off to Grandma's. She enjoy's being outside, so much to look at and keep her entertained. She had so much going on she tuckerd herself out and fell asleep while we were picking. BUT I managed to get a few good pictures of her before that happened!

Mini Vacay

So we spent a week in Charlotte. It was really nice since our hotel was in the snobby Ballentyne area. We ate wonderfully prepared meals every night, took Emerson swimming for the first time, shopped, and relaxed in the hotel during the day's. It was great to get out of our usual routine...and even better to not have to make our bed, do dishes, vacuum you know all the normal daily chores a mom has to do to keep her house from looking like one featured on hoarders. We stayed right on the golf course where Tiger Woods was playing. It was so pretty, if we planned on staying in NC then we would probably move to that area, for my family's sake Florida is on our mind. We have a 4 year plan to pay our house off and get moved!
But back to this last week's event's, Emerson loved the water..She splashed and giggled...the water was a bit chilly so there was a time or two everytime a new part of her body got wet her eyes got really big and her arms sprung out from her sides...So for that reason we didn't stay in long, once she got used to the water she didn't seem to mind though.
Last Sunday I threw a baby shower for my friend Stacy who is having a girl she is naming Macy. It was awesome to see her since she lives in TN now and I was so glad she came back for a shower. My friend Kelly found out she was having a girl on monday. 2010 is definitely the year of the girl. EVERY new/pregnant mom I know has/is having a girl! It's the best. Every mom should experience having a little lady. It's the best!
Well you know I can't leave you without pictures from this week.

My Outdoorsy Lady

She touched the grass for the first time today...she wasn't really sure how she felt about it all..she just sat there in amazement. My grass is crazy wild in the back yard but at least it made for a good picture. For once I can't be totally mad that my husband hasn't cut it yet. She loves being outside or sitting in her bumbo in front of the window or glass door...She stays really quiet and just observes, we see all kinds of birds, trees, and squirrels around so she always has something to look at.
Well I am off tomorrow, have some grocery shopping and birthday presents to get (refer to prev post!). I am ready to spend the whole day with my lovely. Saturday is the ALS walk. Sunday is Tay's birthday party. Busy weekend ahead.

Birthday Blvd.

I swear it is birthday season...I have been buying gifts left and right..and they are all legit...not a friend of a friend...I'm talking my husband, sister, Best friend, Close friends daughter (Emerson's first birthday party)...I won't keep going but they are all within the same week. Glorious right?
Well Em's first Easter was cute...she wore her little dress, and had her very simple because she is only 2 1/2 months old Easter basket. We had a cookout on what turned out to be a beautiful day.
I love sharing her firsts with her....which reminds me..she finally found her feet!! They were in the middle of a staring contest..she reached down and touched them for the first time today. I witnessed it all...silently cheering her on. Woot Emerson! She has started to roll over..and I say started because she doesn't roll all the way..just kind of lands on her side for now. Any day now and I am sure she is bound to roll all the way. I just hope she is in the ideal location when it happens. I don't want to come home to the story about how she plopped to the floor. Since I work part time now, Shane's mom comes over for 2 hours to watch her till he gets off..soo I don't have complete control over the situation(god forbid!).
Anyways I will leave you with a few pictures from the weekend. Enjoy :)

Saturday, April 3, 2010

Well we had a busy day! Making Easter eggs for the first time with Gramma and Auntie M. We went to lunch and celebrated Auntie Melissa's 27th birthday. We spent alot of time outside and she just loved every second. Kisses from Grandpa who just came home from work, he's a pilot..the reason for the uniform :) And since he is only home 2-3 days a week he loves spending time with his little lady.

I have been working out in the morning...just walking since I only have her travel system and not a jogging stroller. And running at night when hubby is home and she is asleep..I heard of this from couch to 5k plan, and had a fellow mommy just recently run in a marathon. Really inspired me to do the same. I would really love to keep up the whole workout routine. Honestly I do alot in my day and it would be really hard to keep up. I wake up at 9pm with my girl, since her daddy does her 7pm feeding while he is up for work.. I get some extra sleep(what a good guy). I feed..change..wash her face..and do her hair(ok so the little she does have). I wash all her bottles and pre- make them for the day, while she watches me in her bouncer that I put next to the sink so we can look out the window at all the birds together...sometimes there are other dishes to take care of too. But by the time I am done with those she is ready for her morning nap. While she is napping I catch up on my internet time..the usual email/facebook/twitter/WTE/blog. She usually only naps for about an hour. Once she is awake she eats, I pack her up and by 11 we are going for our morning walk. Home again by 12, Em is usually asleep from all the movement... So I am able to shower. Once she is up..it is time for her to eat again...then we visit with her friend the vacuum, I thought she would be startled by the noise, but she actually quite loves it..and I do other household chores that are usually in everyones rotation...bathrooms/sweep and mop/laundry/dusting. Catching up on my DVR while doing so. Em usually sits in her swing or on her play mat..and I rotate between cleaning a few and playing with her a few. She loves to watch me move across the room...and always flashes a surprised smile when I stop in to say hello. Then it is time to get ready for 5 hours of work.I am out of the house by 3.30 there by 4....working till 9pm..home to cook dinner for Shane...then to the track at 10pm for the night workout...done by 11.30 since it is usually at least 2 miles I do. Home and ready for some ME time before bed...only to wake up and do it all again! I feel like the more I do in a day the more energy I have :) But back to my main point....I would LOVE to do a marathon..maybe for March of Dimes...since I know lots of preemies who technically should not have survived...and some that didn't. Plus my baby is my motivation so it kind of seems perfect. I am going to set some short term goals to make sure I am able to reach my long term one ;)

Thursday, April 1, 2010

So I am planning on going to Wisconsin with my family in late July for a family reunion. I have tons of family there my mom's 7 siblings and all their kids(my cousins)I also have my biological fathers family there(whom I have never met). We are planning a get-together on that side of the family too. So I guess the day that we will meet face to face has been set. I am pretty emotion-less about it...I really could care less. I have my own family to care about now and if anything it makes it harder for me to realize how he could have left his little ones. I could never leave Emmy. I hate that I have to go to work and thats only part time..I couldn't imagine forever. To me you would have to be pretty heartless to accomplish staying away from your kids for 25 years. Buuuut we will see how this goes. Hopefully we can have a drama free experience. Should be interesting though..

I have also started my work out routine yesterday..I am walking/running every night after work. I need a jogging stoller to go during the day when I have Em, that way I can get 2 work out's in. That would be awesome. It is time to say GOODBYE BABY BELLY..you aren't so cute these days, people aren't dying to touch you any more..you my friend will not be missed!

Update

So Emerson had her 2 month well baby....she is 11 lbs. 14oz. and 25in.(my tall skinny baby takes after her daddy). That puts her in the 75th percentile for weight and 90th for height. She also had her shots...all's I could do was say sorry 4 million times..but she did well...screamed loud for just a second until I was able to pick her up...then she thankfully was all better. Poor little lady. Well as far as her eye is concerned it is definitely better, I found this massage to do just to help open the duct, and it worked...no more goop in her eye. Google is better that the Dr. sometimes. Our little girl is getting so big! I LOVE MY BUG, and that is all.

Some bunny loves you!

Emerson was a busy little bunny yesterday and just about spent the whole day outside with us...she loves to be outside. I made sure I got some great easter shots of her with her bunny ears and flower head..she hated being the flower...I got maybe 2 good shots....but thats all I really need..She is going to hate me when she grows up,I can't help myself..I love her pictures and don't want to miss anything or forget any memories so my camera is always in her face! HAPPY EASTER from Emmy!

Em's Saturday

I have the happiest little girl in my life. She wakes up all smiley and cute..smirks in the middle of eating..giggles during bath time..hoots when on car rides...She just loves everything(well sometimes not bedtime)..She is all smiles, even with a milk beard!
She is talking to us more everyday. I am really gunning for her first word to be mama...that would be awesome.
She is also starting to really focus on things, even if it makes her cross eyed..like in her bouncer, she gets so serious about that the little elephant. He gets her every time.
She kicks up a storm and flails about frantically too..
When she is pleased she now raises her eyebrows in approval.
She is realizing she has hands and fingers...I can't wait till those fingers find her feet!
I have some picture ideas in the works for spring and easter...I can't wait to take them, although she may grow up and hate me for them one day...OH WELL!

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

So Emmy has this issue with her eye...she has a clogged tear duct, which sounds completely opposite of whats wrong with her. Her right eye since birth has had the ability to produce tears...usually babies can't do that for a few months. Well that eye drains and drains....leaving her with eye matter all the time. When she wakes up from her naps her eye is so crusty she sometimes can't even open it. I feel horible just looking at her. They gave me medicine which is not helping..and I have rubbed her eye practically raw with a warm washcloth..so I did my own research..And found this massage I can do to open the duct. I have been doing it all week and it seems to have worked. Thank goodness! I felt horrible wiping her eye out every 10 minutes making it all red and swollen..but I couldn't have left her eye gooped shut. Her appt is Friday so we will definitely see what they say about it. Anyways my sister should be here this next weekend for her birthday. I am excited for her to see Em's and how much she has grown in the last month. As much as I don't want her to grow up...I love seeing her do new things. I am really ready for our couple friends to get back from their Italy vacation! I need some socialization for sure :) I will leave you with a super happy photo from me and Em taken yesterday!

My cable box died and no repair folks will be out till monday.....can we say BOOORING?! I was trying to order new moon on demand last night.. As my husband was saying NOOOOOOO please..I pressed order now. Then the box went black. No lights..sound.nada. What garbage...but he felt so bad that he jinxed it that he got up this morning to get lunch for us ..and how much do you want to bet he is stopping by blockbuster to see about renting it.....but thinks I don't know it. My sweet boy...he is my favorite! So here is a picture of little bunny Lou-Lou.
Enjoy :)

I confess

I confess that I am not working out as much as I should be to get rid of this shelf my c-section has created on my lower abdomen.

I love being a mom and always knew I would...So I have never complained about doing anything associated with taking care of Em.

I ate a nutty buddy bar for breakfast....*gasp*

I hate only getting to be a mommy when I am at home. When I go out everyone wants to hold her non-stop, and bc I live with her I feel like I have to let them.

Should be totally grateful my mother in law watches her for 2 hours till Shane gets home from work, but I secretly wish someone else could do it.

I hate my cat now that I have a baby and feel really guilty about it since he is suuuuuch a sweet little guy!

That I have baby fever and as much as I dont want to miss any of Emmys baby years...I wouldnt be totally mad if I got pregnant again immediately.(uh-oh Shane-sorry!)

I am jealous that I pay $30 a week on a can of formula and the girls at work who live with their babies daddies get it for free.

I hope my friends that are pregnant don't have girls....that way I dont have to let them borrow Em's clothes.

Awh man... it feels good to get that out too. I have kind of just been hanging on to a few things that were making me frustrated and I didn't even realize it. I feel so guilty even typing some of the things out! But now that I have owned up to it maybe I can let it go!

2 months

Waking up to her smiley face makes my life worth living more than ever! I know what I was meant to do....be her mommy
